My Everyday Skincare Routine

Skincare Routine

Hey guys! I wanted to do a skincare routine as I always get a lot of questions about how I keep my skin so clear (MashaAllah)
My routine is so simple and I don't really use anything expensive. I basically use anything that is in my bathroom and whenever I need a new moisturiser, cleanser, toner or mask I look for whatever is the cheapest - I'm not fussed as long as the brand is one I have heard of.

Morning

Cleanser:
For my cleanser I really do not worry too much about what I am using. I do not have sensitive skin and my skin type is normal so the type of cleanser I use is not a big issue for me. Cleansing your skin is very important. Throughout the day your skin becomes full of dirt and dust and you will need to cleanse it all away or risk breaking out in spots. It is also extremely important to cleanse in the mornings too to remove any excess dirt and to help your skin feel clean and refreshed. I think the worst thing a person can do is skip cleansing. If you wear make up especially, using a make up wipe is just not enough in my opinion. Your face will not be totally clean by just using a wipe and they should never be used instead of water. First use a wipe then follow on with a cleanser and water. Some of my favourite cleansers are the No7 Beautiful Skin cleanser, Simple foaming cleanser, Neutrogena Grapefruit Cleanser, Clean and Clear Morning Burst cleanser, Lush Let The Good Times Roll cleanser and the Olay Total Effects Premium cleanser.

Exfoliator:
I exfoliate around three to four times a week to remove any dead skin cells and dirt from my skin. Exfoliating is very important as it uncloggs pores, and clogged pores lead to breakouts. Depending on your skin type, you should decide what type of exfoliator is best for you. If you have very sensitive skin you should use an exfoliator that is less abrasive on the skin. Do not over exfoliate your skin however as this can also cause breakouts. My favourite exfoliators are the Lush Ocean Salt exfoliator, L'Oreal's Perfect Clean scrub, Neutrogena Visibly Exfolating Wash and the St. Ives Apricot scrub. You can also make your own scrub at home using either lemon, sugar and honey or apple cider vinegar, baking soda and honey. These are very mousturising and exfoliating natural scrubs and make your skin feel smooth and bright.

Toner:
There are mixed opinions on the use of toners as some people believe they are just a money making gimmick and others believe they are essential to restoring your skins Ph balance. I like to use a toner, especially in the night as they really get rid of any left over make up or dirt. The two toners I use are the Clinique clarifying toner and the Simple Soothing Facial toner.

Eye cream:
For the mornings I like to use an eye cream that is going to help keep my under eye area bright. The ones I like to use are the Garnier under eye brightening roller and the brightening cream.

Moisturiser:
My all time favourite face moisturiser that I was using for a very long time was the Simple Anti Blemish moistiriser. I think this product really made my skin very clear and stopped me from gettimg any spots. This product costs less than £5 and I recommend it to all my friends because it is amazing. At the moment I am using the No7 Beautiful Skin day cream but as soon as it finished I will repurchase my Simple one.

Make Up Removal

Eye make up removal:
Removing your eye make up is very important a it stops your eyes from feeling heavy and prevents from getting dark circles. I do not advise removing your eye make up with an all over face wipe as it can be harsh on the eye area and you do not want to rub your eyes as they are extremely sensitive. The eye make up remover I am using at the moment is the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Cleansing Water. This is an awesome dupe for Bioderma. You only need to put a little onto a coton pad and apply the pad to your eyes for a few seconds then wipe away. This is perfect for your eyes as it is not harsh at all and you are not rubbing at your eyes.

Face make up removal:
I use a make up wipe to remove my face make up then I will go on to cleansing my face as usual. I use Simple face wipes and even the make up wipes from Primark as they are super cheap and do he job.

Night Routine

Cleanser:
At the moment I have been using my No7 Beautiful Skin cleanser and then 1-2 times a week I will use my Lush Let The Good Times Roll cleanser. I also use the No7 Beautiful Skin Deep Pore Purifier  once a week (If I remember) as it is great for unclogging your pores and reduces the size of them.

Exfoliator:
Same as morning

Mask:
I use face masks one or twice a week and the one I am using at the moment is the Aztec Indian Healing Clay mask. This is an amazing face mask and I have a full review of it on my blog if you are interested in purchasing it. I also use the No7 Beautiful Skin Purifying Mask.

Eye Cream:
The eye cream I use at night is the Benefit Its Potent eye cream as it is very moisturising and helps to keep my under eyes moisturised throughout the night. I also use the Simple Eye Roll On as it is very cooling and feels good under the eyes when it is late and I am tired.

Moisturiser:
I have been using the Simple night cream every night for a while now and I enjoy using it as it is very thick so is super moisturising.

That is my complete skin care routing. It seems like so much but it really isn't! I have just mentioned a lot of products, I do not use every single one of course! Who used 3-4 cleansers at once? LOL! My skin care routine is very affordable and is perfect for younger people as you don't want to spend too much on skin care when you're young and it helps to keep my skin clean and spot free!

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the long post! Comment below what your favourite products are at the moment and share your skin care routine with me as I would love to know!

When Should I Start Wearing Make Up?

When should I start to wear make up?

Hey guys! So a couple of days ago I was asked by one of my followers on Instagram 'when should I start wearing make up?' I thought this was such an interesting question as there isn't one answer to this question so I have decided to make a blog post on it.

There is never an age when you have to start wearing make up, it is all about preference and when you feel comfortable to wear it. Just because your friends wear make up it does not automatically mean you need to.

It was only about a year ago that I began to build up my make up collection. Before then all I had was a small bag with a few products in it. I had no brushes, all I needed was a sponge for applying foundation. I had no eye shadow, lipsticks, highlighters, bronzers, powders, or primers. All I had was a foundation, blush that came with a small brush, lots of eye liners and lip glosses. Now I have a huge cabinet full of make up haha!

When I was around 14 I started to wear eye liner in my water line, then when I was 15 i started wearing blush and lip glosses. When I got to 16 I started to buy concealer and foundation. I never used a powder as I didn't know about setting my foundation, so by the end of the day I had nothing to wipe off with my make up wipe.

When I was 18 I made Instagram and started to follow a lot of nail art accounts and became so inspired I started doing it myself. I bought myself over 300 nail polishes and a whole acrylic set. Then I started watching YouTube videos and forgot about nail polish and became very interested in make up and started collecting that instead. It was always my elder sister who was interested in make up, but now I am addicted to collecting it.

Wearing make up for the first time can be a big deal for some. It makes you feel more of a lady and it is a step towards adolescence. Before you begin, try and determine what kind of skin tone you have. The easiest way to do this is by looking at your veins on your wrist. If they are a greenish tone, you have a warm undertone and if they are blue or purple you have a cool skin tone. If you have both green and blue you may have a neutral skin tone. People with warm skin tones look better in purples, blues and reds. Your foundation should have a pinkish undertone. If you have a cool skin tone, you look better in golds, greens and browns.

There is a lot of make up you can wear and a lot of make up you do not need to wear. No one needs to wear make up, that is why I write 'can'. If you are someone still in school and want to start wearing  make up, think about what it is you want to wear and read below to have an idea on what you mat want to wear depending on your skin type (my opinion, it's not the 'right' way)

If you have very good/ perfect skin, then consider leaving out foundation and concealer. Concealer is used to hide your imperfections and foundation is used to balance out your skin tone. If that is not something you need, leave it out. You do not want to wear foundation as it may cause problems on your skin and I promise you will regret it. You should maybe just use a bit of mascara and lip gloss. You don't want to go crazy with a lot of blush or eye shadow if you are only going to school as you will look silly and I am pretty sure it is not allowed. On days out or parties, you can definitely wear some eye liner and blush, maybe even bronzer too. It is up to you what you choose to wear. As long as you feel confortable in it and you apply it correctly so you don't look silly, you can do as you please! Just remember to remove your make up completely once you go to bed as you don't want to get spots.

If you have good/ slightly problematic skin and feel you need to cover up the problem areas a little, you should go for concealer and a BB cream. A BB cream is perfect as it gives a little bit of coverage and is very mousturising to the skin too. You will have covered up any imperfections with concealer so you won't need much more coverage. If your only problem is dark circles and it's making you look tired, use a bit of under eye concealer and you will look a lot more awake. Never forget to use lip balm as this will also make you look bright and healthy. Adding colour to the lips and a small amount to the face is a great way to look wide awake. Just be sure to not apply too much as you will look like a clown - and that is not a good look.

If you have problematic skin and you want to wear a foundation, always make sure to use ome rthat is suited to your skin type and colour. You do not want the foundation you are choosing to break you out further. If you have oily skin, find a foundation for oily skin, and if you have dry skin, fond one for dry skin. Make sure the foundation you choose matches closely to your skin tone. There is nothing worse than looking like a dorito because your foundation is too dark, or grey becayse it is too light. You want your foundation to look like your skin as much as possible. You do not want to look caked, therefore it is important to choose a shade that matches your skin tone.

There are millions of videos on YouTube of tutorials on how to apply make up and they are super helpful. They have really helped me and I definitely recommend for anyone starting out with make up to look up tutorials as they can really help you choose the best products and how to apply them.

These are all my tips, I hope they were helpful for some of you. You obviously do not have to follow what I say, this is just what I recommend, and I'm no expert!

January Favourites 2014

MY 2014 JANUARY FAVOURITES

Hello guys! Happy Chinese New Year! It may be the 1st of February for us, but over in China they are all celebrating a New Year so lets all sit back and have a minutes silent and feel super sorry for ourselves because January flew by so fast! Ah well, we have Valentine's Day to look forward to. Although for some, that may be the most depressing time of the year. So, do you love Valentine's day or hate it? Comment below!

I have quite a few favourites to talk about so I won't go in to too much detail about them unless you want a full review on them (if so comment below)

I'm going to start off with my only non beauty related item. I am a sucker for candles. Especially Yankee Candles. I always have a candle burning in my room and every time I go in to town I pick one up for myself. My favourite all time scent has to be Clean Cotton. I love scents that have a clean, soapy scent to them. I always purchase 'linen' and 'cotton' scented air fresheners because I think they smell amazing. And I adore the smell of fresh clothes out the wash, anyone else?
The only downside to this candle, as with a lot the Yankee Candles, I cannot smell it throughout my whole room. I only have a small bedroom so this shouldn't be a problem, but I find with most Yankee Candles that the smell does not fill up the room.
Seriously though, the smell of this candle is heavenly! Every time I hold it up to my nose, I just say 'AHHHHHH'. It is the most perfect smell. This retails for £8.39 and I purchased my one from Clinton's.

Another one of my favourites for January is The All Concealed Concealer kit by a brand called 'Along Came Betty'. I discovered this product in Tesco this month and had never heard of it before then. At first i thought it was Soap & Glory as the product packaging is very similar and they sell very similar products. The price range is also similar to Soap & glory's. I saw this concealer for £1.50 and I was surprised and thought it must be a mistake as everything else was a lot higher priced. They had testers out and so I tested it and really liked the consistency so I purchased it. The kit comes with two concealers, one for under the eyes and one for imperfections and it also comes with a brightening powder too. The powder is white in colour but goes on transparent and does not leave a white cast. This concealer is honestly amazing! It is so creamy and pigmented and does not crease under the eyes at all. It is so affordable and has three products in one so is fantastic. I recommend everyone to head down to Tesco to try this out and I'm certain you will be impressed.

Another favourite of mine, which I am sure I have mentioned is the Rocket mascara by Maybelline. Before I purchased this mascara I never bothered about my lashes. Lashes to some are the most important part, but for me, they were not. I'd put a few coats of any mascara on and I would be happy. When I started using the Rocket mascara I was a changed woman haha! It makes my lashes look so long and voluminous. This costs around £8.99

This bronzer by Rimmel is by far one of my most favourite bronzers to contour with. It is the perfect shade, as it i not too dark and I can blend it out very easily. I have hit pan on this so I have bought another and I just think it is an excellent affordable product. You can pick this up for around £4 in various stores.

The Benefit Its Potent eye cream is my favourite ever eye cream. This is only a sample version that was part of a set but I have had two others in the past and have always loved this eye cream. It makes my under eyes feel so moisturised and keeps them looking very bright. I use this every morning and night and it keeps my under eyes from getting very dark.

This isn't just a monthly favourite of mine, it has been my favourite nail polish since I got it. It is the perfect pink colour and it suits my skin tone so well. It is my favourite ever nail polish (and I have hundreds) and it is one I reach for over and over again. The shade of this is Cool Cascade.

The Porefessional by Benefit is my holy grail product. I have never come across a product even a little bit like this and it is by far the best pore minimiser I have ever tried. I use this on my cheeks on the sides of my nose and it immediately makes my pores disappear. I was using the tiny sample version for absolute ages and it lasted me so long because I only use it on my cheeks as that is where my larger pores are. This costs £24.95 and I seriously recommend everyone to purchase this product as it will change the way your make up looks! It really makes your foundation look flawless.

I picked this product up in January and have been loving it ever since. It is a dupe for Bioderma which is difficult to find in the UK so this is a much better option as it is a lot more affordable too. You can find this at all drugstores and even supermarkets as I picked my one up from Tesco. It was on offer for 2 for £6 so I picked another one up for my sister. This is such a great product. You only have to use a tiny bit to remove all your eye make up and you do not have to rub at your eyes to remove your make up. I put a little bit of this remover on a cotton pad, hold it over my eyes for a few seconds and when I wipe away, all my eye make up is gone. I use a make up wipe for the rest of my face and solely use this for my eye make up.

This is my alll time favourite perfume. I have been in love with this perfume for around 3 years now and I have been to Debenhams countless amounts of times to find my new favourite fragrance, but I always go back to Prada D'iris. In my opinion, nothing else can beat this perfume. It has a beautiful clean, soapy fragrance, and as I mentioned earlier, that is my favourite type of scent. It just smells amazing. I never smell anyone else wearing this perfume and no one I know owns it so it has become my 'signature scent'. Please let me know what you think of this perfume, as it is the best smell in the world and I want to know if anyone else thinks that too. This retails for around £70 or more, which is pretty expensive, but I love it so much and I don't think I will ever need another perfume LOL.

This foot cream by Soap & glory is one of the best foot creams I have ever used. It really makes my feet feel super smooth and has a gorgeous smell too. This costs £7 and is always on offer at Boots.

If you know me, you will know I absolutely love matte lip creams. I have a big collection of lip creams and I love them all, but I have been wearing this one by NYX a lot this month. It is in the shade San Paulo and it is a gorgeous pink-mauve shade. My lips do not feel dry when I wear this even though it is matte. The only downside to this is it can be tricky to apply, especially for someone like me who has small lips. This retails for £5 and can be purchased of the NYX website.

I only just got Candy Yum Yum by MAC this month and I am totally in love with it. For months I put off purchasing it as I thought it is such a bright pink and I felt it would never suit me, but I was in MAC with my best friend and I tried on Girl About Town, Chatterbox and Candy Yum Yum and I thought Candy YY was the best. My amazing best friend purchased this for me, so thank you <3 This retails for £15.

That is all my favourites for this monthl, I hope you ejoyed reading this blog post, comment below what your favourites are of if you have tried any of the above.

Take care, xxx
